TheState’s Health shared services function and technology provider which manages in excess of $10.8B of expenditure for the government.

Challenge

The new CFO had identified the need to move the organisation from being ‘excel-centric’ to become true business partners with the Directorates they supported and find ways to add value to those areas.

Solution

A Maestro, working with the CFO & the Chief Executives of the group, defined, designed and delivered a customer focused future-state operating model for the Finance, Commercial & Corporate Services Directorate.

This engagement included the design and definition of:

  • Organisational capabilities for Finance, & Corporate Services
  • Conducting the capability maturity assessment with the Finance, & Corporate Services leadership team and selected staff
  • Design and develop the future-state operating model, value chain and process architecture
  • Develop the detailed organisational design, role design (roles and responsibilities)
  • Develop the go-live structure and supporting position descriptions
  • Develop a “true” business partnering approach to effectively support the departmental pillars
  • Develop the organisational change proposal to inform the union briefing
  • New organisation structure delivered higher competency and skills levels and cost reductions
